Susie was born in Zambia in 1981 and came to live in the UK a year later, she began her violin studies under Olive Jenner in the Lowestoft Suzuki group and later with John Fisher in Southwold.
Susie studied at the RSAMD in Glasgow under Ruth Crouch and Simon Fischer and graduated with a Bmus (hons) in 2003.
She moved to London to take up the post of concert master of the Southbank Sinfonia for the 2007 season, with whom she performed the Barber Violin Concerto under Edward Gardener (ENO). Since 2008 Susie has enjoyed a varied and successful freelance career with many top orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Scottish  Symphony Orchestra, and artists including Sting, KaYne West,  and Westlife.

I have been teaching in schools and privately for 15 years and over that time have developed and honed a solid teaching technique. I started playing violin at the age of three under the Suzuki method and also studied french horn and piano with my county music service. Aged 10, I left the Suzuki method and studied privately with a pupil of Max Rostal.

I have attended lectures on teaching techniques covering Color Strings, the Kodaly method and Solfège.

I teach all age ranges, starting from 3 upwards and currently teach 2 pupils with serious learning difficulties.

I am familiar with the ABRSM exam board and have a 100% pass rate.

In addition to my teaching at City of London Academy, I have a number of private pupils and I regularly freelance with the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as well as a host of others.

Reasons to study with me:

Having studied the Suzuki method from the age of three, I teach a hybrid method, using elements of Suzuki, but also honing sight reading skills and using an array of teaching books.
