Discover Anna Mateo's teaching style and pedagogy:
A little bit about myself: was classicaly trained in Barcelona, where I obtained the Spanish official Diploma that entitles me to teach Classical Technique. After that, I relocated to London in 2004 and learned the Estill Method by working very closely with Gillianne Kayes ( author of "singing and the Actor") and through my MA in Performance (Musical Theatre) from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Since the age of 16 I have been stydying with the most well-recognised teachers both in classical and modern styles to achieve a solid understanding of technique and style.
I have performed in both West End musicals and Opera productions including: Evita ( Really Useful Group), John Adam's "I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky" ( Barbican/Stratford East), Bernstein's "Candide", among others.
As a professional teacher I have worked at Urdang Academy and Doreen Bird College.
I teach mostly from home in Ealing Broadway ( very quick from Central London in the Central Line ) but happy to arrange a studio in Marylebone or Edware Road if it suits my students needs better. In that case my student must cover the addictional £15 of booking the room.
Professional Diploma in Classical Singing by the Conservatoire of Barcelona.
Masters In Performance ( Musical Theatre ) by Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
Core Trainning/ Vocal Process Foundation Course , with Gillyane Kayes and Jeremy Fisher ( authors of "Singing and the Actor"
Reasons to study with me:
I believe versatility in singing style is the key to be prepared to enter the performing path as most productions tend to combine multiple styles, and the performer has to have the skills to meet the demands of the industry. My acting background is also an asset to assess their interpretation.
