PETER FENDER - short biography
I have spent the majority of my working life as a freelance musician. This has comprised conducting orchestras, and choirs, performing as a violinist and viola player (often the gut-strung versions), teaching those same instruments, teaching class music and adult education classes, coaching youth and amateur orchestras, and composing and editing music. I also play the piano, and enjoy playing a quiet bit of blues guitar to myself. I've got a blues' harmonica which I intend to learn properly one day!
In 2007, I founded the orchestra Philharmonia Britannica. With this orchestra I am mixing classical orchestral music with other disciplines (such as acting, painting, video, poetry and comedy), hoping to draw in people who wouldn't be interested by a 'straight' classical gig, but also looking for some interesting syntheses and juxtapositions.
I am an experienced and versatile musician with a great passion for all that I do.
