I have taught Recorder in many different sorts of schools, private and state, junior and senior as well as at the centre for Young Musicians and at the now defunct Pimlico Special Music Course, and was also the recorder specialist at Eton College. Some of my ex students from Pimlico, and from my private practice are now music teachers in their own right and I am proud to have had the chance to work with them while they were young.
I have worked teaching individuals , small groups, larger groups, and whole classes, and I also have alot of experience running and training recorder ensembles, of which I have three on the go at present.
Many years ago after being heard accompanying one of my recorder students on the piano,at Pimlico, I was asked if I could take on some piano students. Also a private student's mother some years ago asked me to teach her daughter piano as well as Recorder, and now that student has passed grade 8 recorder with Distinction and grade 7 piano with Merit .
Now my private practice is about half and half Recorder and Piano and I teach my private pupils mostly in the after school hours, Monday to thursday.
I took up clarinet for my own pleasure in late 2008, and now am working towards my grade 8 and have one clarinet student at the saturday music school where I have now worked for just over 4 years. Apart from that I have 20 recorder students there, who will be putting on a concert on 12th march in Herne Hill on 20th March at 4pm at the Herne Hill Baptist Church. The saturday music school will have its own Easter concert at st Matthews Meadow Rd near the Elephant. the following saturday ( 19th March 2016), when my students who will have their grade exams the following day will have a chance to perform again.
I also plan to have a concert for my private students at St John the Evangelist Church , Goose Green in early July 2016.
