Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Wendy Shih received advanced cello training from John Todd at Birmingham Conservatoire. Since the year of 2010, she has held a master of music degree in cello performance at Birmingham Conservatoire. Moreover, in the year of 2008, she was also accepted by Idyllwild Art Academy in California. With the orchestra of Idyllwild Art Academy, she participated in the chamber music orchestra and solo performances, and performed in Disney Concert Hall.
Years of practicing and training grants her the motivation to pursue the career in music and kindles her enthusiasm of educating the youth. Also, she currently conducts the private lesson with pupils from all ages. She enjoys the moment of teaching, in which she is motivated by the hope of education and every improvement that the pupils have shown. She can offer the intensive trainings for the emphasis on music exam training and other professional trainings for performances. Also, she cares about each student’s every need and concern on the path of music learning.
Wendy Shih’s main teaching philosophy is not only to assist students to gain the knowledge on the particular instrument, but also understand the history and theory of particular piece. With deep and profound knowledge on the background, students can truly enjoy and appreciate the music. This background teaching can also allow the learning to be more creative and fun, instead of merely the boring and tedious practices.
