After graduating with First Class Honors from the Royal College of Music in 2008 where she studied saxophone with Kyle Horch and chamber music with Martin Robertson, Michaela completed a postgraduate study in Paris with Christian Wirth in 2010. While at the RCM Michaela co-founded the Sirocco Saxophone Quartet which was selected to perform in the Rising Stars Series 2008 at the Cadogan Hall and went on to be selected as Park Lane Group Young Artists, giving their debut Purcell Room recital in January 2009 and a Wigmore Hall recital the following year.
In 2007 Michaela won the RCM Melber Prize Saxophone Competition, in which she was runner-up the two previous years. In 2006 she was a finalist in the London Saxophone Competition and achieved Highly Commended with distinction in the North London Festival of Music.
Michaela has gained invaluable orchestral experience in London and abroad. In 2006 she performed with the Young Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra at the Montepulciano Festival, Italy, and played with the LPO Future Firsts at the Royal Festival Hall in 2008. In February 2009 she performed the saxophone solo in Ravel’s Bolero in Mumbai with the Symphony Orchestra of India and took part in the London Sinfonietta Academy 2010 at King’s Place, London.
During the 2010-2011 season Michaela has been touring France with a theatrical project entitled “Le Souffle des Marquises”, along with three other musicians and French writer/storyteller Muriel Bloch.
